Abstract
Inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, this thesis explores embodied effects of past experiences and creates a path of healing for myself. This work acknowledges that bearing witness to bombing of the city in which I grew up in/formed my ways of being and relating to the world by means of embodied sense of fragmentation. In grappling with my unmetabolized grief, this thesis depicts a personal journey and a way of engaging with a place of interior landscape. I bring in embodied contemplative-artistic practices to this work. In this context, contemplative-artistic practices are understood as creative forms of thinking, being with, and attending to our inner world. My hope is that through an exploration, such as this thesis work, one can come to see that what arises inside of us is fully implicated in, and inextricably entangled with, that which arises outside of us.
