Abstract
Since time immemorial, food has connected the Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh people with each other and neighbouring communities. Through hunting, gathering, processing, utilization, and trade, there were (and still are), many opportunities to learn more about some of the Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh-ulh wa lhtim̓ á (Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh ways of being). The theme of this particular project involves a model for ongoing learning for second language speakers, focusing on food, cooking, and the kitchen. With as few conversational Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh speakers there currently are, this project is also an attempt to provide an insight into how connecting immersive speaking with the linguistic realm can be beneficial. There will be activities and information based on experiences from prior years of learning and teaching through immersion. The hope is to also highlight how learners can create a language domain anywhere to focus on immersive learning, with a group or alone.
