Abstract
As new technologies and innovations emerge, certain everyday tasks become redundant and begin to feel overly complicated. Today, people use facial recognition to unlock their cell phone, and pushing a button starts your car for you. This type of innovation leads us at Janus Solutions, to create Portunus: a smart home lock system to eliminate the need to carry a house key. Using facial recognition, Portunus will be a unique, full-scale system which allows its users to unlock their door by simply looking at the camera, and eliminates the impracticality of constantly worrying about house keys.
