Abstract
The Ember Trailer module serves to assist wildfire responders and firefighters in searching for hidden remaining embers after a wildfire has been contained. Detecting these hotspots are an important component of a process called "mopping up". In this process, responders scan and search for remaining embers that pose a threat by reigniting the already suppressed wildfire. These responders are often on their hands and knees to attempt to feel the heat on the ground if there is no obvious smoke visible from the embers. By having the Ember Trailer module available to them, this device will assist them with the detection of those hotspots without having to crawl around on their hands and knees making the process more efficient and convenient for them. Consequently, by targeting the efficiency of the mopping up process specifically, responders will be able to decrease the time spent on this time-consuming and rigorous process to make them available to attend to more wildfires elsewhere during the hot, dry summers.
