Abstract
Western Australia was formed by the accretion of multiple tectonostratigraphic terranes over a long and complex geologic history. To better understand the relationship between the Paleoarchean Narryer Terrane and the Mesoarchean Youanmi Terrane of the Yilgarn Craton and their surrounding areas, the 2-D vibroseis seismic reflection line 11GA-SC1 is reprocessed, developing an improved refraction statics solution by tomographic inversion of first arrivals. An integrated interpretation of 11GA-SC1, adjacent reflection line 10GA-CP3, and regional potential field data is developed. In this structural framework, the Youanmi Terrane in the subsurface is located and the low angle thrust along its upper surface above which the Narryer Terrane was transported is identified. Using the seismic and magnetic data, a number of faults or shear zones are identified within the Narryer Terrane, which may extend further west than previously thought below half-grabens of the Southern Carnarvon Basin.
