Abstract
Many computer operating systems come loaded with features to suspend the monitor after a certain time of inactivity. However, these features are usually disabled because computer users are frustrated by the activation of the screensaver or suspension of the monitor when users are inactive, such as in watching a DVD movie, or the viewing of a document. Our product, SenSaver, uses intelligent IR sensors mounted on the monitor to detect the presence of users. If the user leaves the workstation, power management will be automatically activated. For businesses, an added layer of security may be desirable. Most of the available authentication products such as biometrics and card based systems are expensive, prone to error and wastes users' time in gaining authentication. For these reasons, we propose a more elegant system for security protection. Our SenSaver Pro addresses security by utilizing elaborate and inexpensive wireless encryption systems, which effortlessly allow computer access for authorized users while denying access to unauthorized users.
