Abstract
Our product, StandStation's main feature is to enable a person in a wheelchair to transfer from a sitting position to a standing position. The two main benefits and usages of this device are to allow better blood circulation in the legs and to allow the disabled to use a standing urinal. Based on the functionalities of StandStation, we decided to focus on the groups that are incomplete tetraplegics, incomplete paraplegics, and complete paraplegics. These groups cover roughly 75.6% of the SCI population. The reasons why our product will not be designed to accommodate complete tetraplegics is because most complete tetraplegics wears diapers and may have a personal assistant to assist them. Our product is meant for those that have the physical ability to go to the washroom alone, but have trouble doing so.
