Abstract
The musical carpet is an educational device aimed at younger children. It is a large flat floor mat that contains a keyboard. The goal of our project is to create a product that can both teach and entertain. The device consists of two octaves of piano keys that can be played intuitively, though the device will also be able to synthesize other instruments. This product also includes a play and sing mode, which will indicate whether the singer's voice is in tune with the note played.

Undergraduate Engineering students are required to complete a group-based, two-course capstone sequence: ENSC 405W and ENSC 440. Groups form company structures and create an innovative product that potentially acts as a solution to a real-life problem.
