Abstract
CARE is a portable cost-effective ultrasound system designed especially for detecting carotid artery disease. CARE consists of a probe and corresponding software. The probe uses ultrasound technology against the carotid artery while the software displays the information captured by the probe. Both components significantly reduce the cost of the product from current ultrasound systems. Since the probe is easy to use, CARE does not require the assistance of an ultrasound technician. Also, considering most medical offices have portable displays, the cost of a display, to view the information from the probe, is not included in the price of CARE because the software can be downloaded on any mobile device. Featuring a handheld design and compatible software, CARE is an alternative to traditional ultrasound systems for providing early diagnosis of carotid artery disease. The following details the product's scope, benefits, risks, market rationale, and cost, as well as the company behind the product.
