Abstract
Stores have spent a lot of time and money trying to improve their wait time at the checkout. The average customer reportedly "feels like" they wait longer than they actually do, and this consequently has a negative impact on their shopping experience.Although currently there are many solutions which try to address this issue such as express lanes, self checkout systems, and different staffing techniques, none of these solutions addresses the problem head on. At ShopLite we are developing a LiteSpeed Gate which wirelessly scans items allowing shoppers to simply walk through and pay without having to unload and reload all of their merchandise.
