Abstract
We heard from ecological footprint founder Bill Rees, One Earth Executive Director Vanessa Timmer, BCIT Sustainability Lead Dr. Jennie Moore and Ryu Koide from the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies in Japan. They shared the possibility space around sustainable lifestyles. They also revealed the magnitude and urgency of changes needed. We profiled some great initiatives active here in Metro Vancouver, including the Hua Foundation, Eat the Dishes, Modo and Frameworq. We engaged in a conversation with fellow participants to identify commitments and actions on lighter living - an input to the City of Vancouver as it develops its plan to respond to the climate emergency, as well as Vancity and One Earth's work on Lighter Living. The event benefited from Stina Brown's live graphic recording. You can see her work on 5 October here, captured as a time-lapse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCwFf....The event was organized by One Earth with Vancity, The City of Vancouver and SFU's Vancity Office of Community Engagement. With thanks to Richard Maerov (Podium Productions) for the video and editing.
