Abstract
Innovation has been defined as the combination of invention and commercialization. Invention without commercialization is rarely, if ever, profitable. For the purposes of this paper the definition of innovation will be further expanded into the concept of technology integration. Successful technology integration not only includes new technology introduction, but also the operationalization of the new technology within each business unit of the enterprise. This paper conducts an analysis of Allstream’s internal organizational structure, and reviews a number of key processes and business support systems that are required for the integration of new technology into Allstream. Gaps and ambiguities are identified within the processes and business support systems used to integrate new technology into Allstream. Recommendations are presented to address these gaps and ambiguities, so that Allstream can create a strategic advantage through superior technology integration.
