Abstract: 

As a large number of hockey pucks are used during training sessions, cleaning up the pucks each at a time can be a time consuming task.  Hockey teams and players want to be getting the most out of their time with the ice rink as it can cost hundreds of dollars per hour to privately rent.  The less time it takes to clean up and prepare the ice rink for the group of people, the more time is spent using the ice rink for training, pre-game warm-ups, etc. PuckHoover™ aims to automate the process of collecting pucks efficiently.  This can help maximize quality time for hockey practices and reduce downtime during hockey game intermissions The PuckHoover™ from ProjectBot Solutions uses vision systems to seek out the location of the pucks on the ice rink and then uses machine learning to determine the most optimum path to retrieve all the pucks. A parallel pick-up and stacking process is used to decouple the PuckHoover™ so the operations are not dependent on each other.

Bin Buddy is an autonomous waste cart moving system that navigates itself and the attached waste cart to and from the waste collection area, following the city’s collection schedule. Bringing out the garbage every week is a mundane chore that can be carved out from people’s lives, especially for elderly and disabled people. By using ultrasonic sensors and setting boundaries to simplify our problem to a hallway problem, Bin Buddy will be able to detect large obstacles while navigating itself. Since Bin Buddy will be navigating in the vicinity of homes, it must adhere to safety and engineering standards as well as follow the municipal bylaws. To simplify communication with the user, Bin Buddy must also have a user interface.

The Levo is a performance tracking barbell attachment that will enhance and aid an athlete's ability to understand their performance in the weight room. By tracking the movement of the barbell, several useful performance measurements can be extracted, analyzed and communicated to the athlete in a meaningful way. Abstract: 

The global automotive aftermarket is a rapidly growing industry that is expected to reach about $722 billion by the year 2020. Today’s consumers are taking an interest in the maintenance of vehicles to ensure they maximize their automobile's lifetime. Our team at CANtech is introducing an open source hardware and software package called CANnect that allows consumers to perform car diagnostics and read real-time telemetrics of their vehicle. CANnect is a combination of a hardware module that can be connected to the CANbus system of the vehicle, and a software application that receives this vehicle data through a Bluetooth connection. Our product is open source which would allow consumers to customize our base features to meet their needs and introduce new solutions to our platform.

Unhealthy and stress induced lifestyles have resulted in an increase in demand for sleep associated technology. Medeor is a smart headband that acts as a health tracker by monitoring an individual’s sleep cycle, pulse, and snoring. The document analyzes the hardware and software requirements of the product. The hardware system includes the pulse sensor, EEG, microphone (to detect snoring), and the microcontroller system. The software requirements involve signal processing and application that allows the user to receive their health data. The application will display important information, suggestions, and recommended actions and safety measures, such as calling a caretaker when irregular data is recorded.

Abstract: 

The goal of developing Costless Node Network (CNN) is to engineer a way to extract information from a farm in an effortless and productive manner. The purpose of CNN stems from the laborious task of manually and visually judging and collecting data and how this leads to inefficiencies and poor and limited access to data as the size of the farm increases. Collected data is intuitively presented to the farmer to enhance their crops. The type of data, volume of data, speed of access, will be the deliverables for this project.

The goal of CNN is to minimize physical efforts to collect data with initial capital cost  and maximize productivity for the farmers. This product is a comprehensive solution to all the challenges faced by farmers across the globe. Farmers suffer from low yielding  and increasing costs to the point that most barely breakeven. CNN’s primary goals is to reverse this experience by providing high resolution data allowing the farmer to take control of the crops and to expect healthy yields year after year. Using CNN means deploying a method which leads to a very healthy crop yield at a very low costs. Furthermore, CNN means a significant reduction in tedious labour.

Abstract: 

The average elderly patient takes more than five prescription medications per day. Auto-Pharm prevents senior citizens from making errors in their medications. The Auto-Pharm system contains two parts: the first one is a User Online Website, which sets the dosage and the schedule of each medication. The second part is the physical machine which provides the pill on schedule. The Auto-Pharm device has fewer buttons than its competitors.

Abstract: 

The Urban Needle locator Mark I is a mapping and tracking system which detects syringes discarded in an environment and stores their unique-ID, GPS coordinates, and time-stamped data. Dirty needle refuse represents a modern problem and requires a modern solution. By using a combination of passive RFID tags, mobile antenna system and GPS sensors, the Mark I will produce a map of current needle refuse to be referenced by cleanup crews. Due to the immense scope of the problem (PHS mobile needle exchange estimates they retrieved 1.6 million used syringes in 2012 alone in Vancouver) - even small efficiency increases can produce large reductions in time spent on cleanup. For these reasons, it is critical that the Mark I is able to accurately locate syringes and produce reliable data that workers can use effectively. Additionally, as the Mark I is an engineered product operating in an urban environment, it is essential that it conforms to safety and engineering standards mandated by local governments. The following document quantitatively outlines all of the necessary requirements for the system to operate successfully in Canada.

Abstract: 

In-store shopping is beginning to diminish as more shoppers are trending towards online shopping. DPL is a modern parcel locker that combines a website and a parcel locker to improve the online shopping experience. DPL provides a safe and secure locker that courier companies can place customer packages inside. The DPL consists of 2 components: a website and a parcel locker. The website will display UI and the frontend; however, the website will be controlled by the underlying server which will have its own components. Other than filling backend needs, the server will control the DBMS, DPL management, and a connection to the courier server for information retrieval. The parcel locker will consist of its own intuitive software controls along with an easy to use UI. The website and the parcel locker will seamlessly integrate with the firmware and hardware, resulting in a product that creates the most efficient and secure online shopping experience.
