Searching Tips for Summit

Search Summit using the Search our collections search box on the upper right hand side of the screen. This searches both the records in Summit and also the full text of works deposited in Summit. The Collections listed under Browse our collections are listed alphabetically.

The default searching joins each word with AND. In order to search for a phrase instead of "anding" the words together put quotation marks around the phrase. For example, "Looking for a link" when looking for that particular phrase.

After doing a search, Summit will display on the right hand side of the screen a list of options by which you can filter your results. For example, if you search for the word "propaganda" you will see a list of results and on the right of the screen the ability to filter your results. If you decide to filter by Simon Fraser University Theses, then you would see only the results for "propaganda" that are in the Simon Fraser University Theses collection. You can now search within these results by checking off "Retain current filters" under the search box and entering new search terms, or appending new search terms.

THESES not in Summit:

Please search Recently Submitted Theses at if you cannot find the thesis you are looking for. Newly submitted theses will not yet be added to Summit as it takes approximately 12 months for a submitted thesis to go through the various protocols prior to being added to the Library's collection.
